Coffee and cake?
For all those who do not need to have to be a hunter’s schnitzel with fries (the veal or pig would be thankful!) we have a list of cafés in the old town of Ochsenfurt. What should be pointed out is, that this selection is certainly not complete.
The cafés in the Old Town of Ochsenfurt
Altstadt Café
One of the first cafés you’ll stumble upon while strolling through the Old Town of Ochsenfurt is the Altstadt Caf. The classic café is located to the left of the town hall. Especially in the summer you sit here quite comfortably directly on the Rathausplatz.
The offer of the cafe is as I said classic. Coffee, tea, cakes and in summer still quite delicious ice cream. The offer can not be criticized in any way. Prices are moderate.
In winter or on rainy / cool days, however, you will have to retreat to the inside of the café. There, it may not be as inviting as outside. But service and quality are also right here.
Cafe Krüger
The Café Krüger is located in the Ochsenfurter Hauptstraße (Mainstreet), just a few meters from the town hall, opposite the Gasthof Kauzen.
Also in the Café Krüger you can enjoy the Franconian sun in the spring, summer and far into the autumn outdoors in front of the café really nicely. Some cars will pass by though, just like the omnipresent cyclists. But in temperate speed, since the old town of Ochsenfurt is traffic-calmed.
The selection of the cafés ranges from coffee and tea to cakes and pastries to a delicious breakfast with bread and egg and all you probably need for starting your day. The prices are OK and the quality of the food justifies their level.
The inside of the café does not look quite contemporary. This should not deter you from coming here. The Café Krüger is definitely a good tip when it comes to delicious coffee and a small refreshment between!
Café & Bäckerei Spenkuch
The Café & Bäckerei Spenkuch probably offers the „coolest location“ within the old town, concerning the cafes. Directly under the pillory of this venerable building, you can enjoy your coffee here with a view of St. Andreas Church on the corner of Hauptstraße / Brückenstraße. The Brückenstraße is, incidentally, the street in the old town which leads from the main road in the direction of the River Main.
